Dr. Hayley Matthews

Hayley is an open, down to earth, friendly eight generation New Zealander from a small town in Northland who now enjoys the sunshine and outdoors lifestyle in Tauranga. Hayley has provided psychological assessment and intervention with children, adolescents and adults with mental health and trauma presentations. After setting up Professional Psychological Services in 2006, Hayley has been working primarily with sexual trauma survivors from 2010 and has specialised in the treatment of adults with the experience of single episode and childhood sexual abuse. Hayley has a confident and sympathetic approach with trauma victims and has achieved promising and lasting outcomes with clients with significant emotional/behavioural difficulties.

In terms of models of intervention, Hayley is passionate about the Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing therapy; she also utilises Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy and Family/Systemic intervention. Hayley is always happy to speak with anyone considering taking up therapy for any presenting difficulties. She understand the first phone call is often the hardest part of the process and encourages anyone to take the first step towards reclaiming their life following trauma.
