Our People

Susan Ricketts

Counsellor

I am originally from the UK and emigrated to New Zealand with my husband in 2018. I have been supporting clients since I opened a private practice back in 2004, and educating practitioners to develop therapeutic competences since 2010.

My passion is to facilitate well-being for every individual I work with, supporting them on their transformational journey.  I utilise a selection of approaches influenced by a trauma informed and responsive lens including: Person centred counselling, Sandplay Therapy, Clinical Hypnotherapy, CBT, NLP, Life-coaching, Mindfulness and Meditation.

As a full member of the NZAC and a listed Supervisor, I am dedicated to developing my cultural competences, and committed to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi.

For the last 5 years I have worked within an NGO facilitating a variety of programmes and counselling women, adolescents and children who have experienced trauma, suicide ideation, self-harm, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, family violence, low self-esteem, bullying, sexual abuse, and stress.

I am passionate about supporting clients that are Neurodivergent. I advocate, counsel and support individuals with ASD, ADHD and ODD. This includes educating teachers, parents and children about ASD/ADHD, signposting to funding, training, and respite services.

I look forward to meeting you and supporting you on your therapeutic journey.
